Continuing the theme of inviting leading figures from the world of sport to tell their story and share their views in the “highest spots podcast in the world”, series host and street football superstar Sean Garnier was joined by former French football international Bacary Sagna and football agent, Youssef Sofiane, on the rooftop of Nakheels ‘View At the Palm’ overlooking Dubai’s iconic Palm Jumeirah for episode 6 of EX Sports Podball podcast series.

Born in central France, Bacary enjoyed an illustrious career that took him from Auxerre in France’s Ligue 1 to Arsenal and Manchester City in the English Premier League before he wound down his career with spells in Italy’s Serie A and the north American MLS. In addition to his 544 professional club games and a host of team and personal trophies and awards, Bacary also earned 65 caps for France.

Apart from a love of football, Sean and his two guests also share a common background. Like Bacary, both Youssef and Sean began their careers in the youth academy at Auxerre before they each went in their own direction. While Bacary carved out a career at the top of the game, Youssef played for several clubs in France, England, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Algeria, while also earning caps for France at various youth levels. Having also begun his career in Auxerre’s academy, Sean would also play for Troyes before his career was cut short through injury.

Although the three former Auxerre academy prospects share a common starting point, their different career trajectories underline just how difficult it can be to make a career as a professional footballer. During the podcast, the three talked about their vastly different careers and journeys. While Bacary explained what it takes to make it to the top and stay there, Youssef and Sean provided insights into the opportunities that exist in the wider world of football outside of playing the game professionally for a living.

After sharing their opinions on the current best footballers in the world, they also talked about street football and development opportunities at the grassroots level.

As usual, each main guest is invited to play the Urbanball Trickshot game demo. While Sean did his best to distract Bacary by asking him several questions, the former French international scored an impressive 4,480, putting him in the top 5 of the leaderboard.
